I want to be a Pro Domme

Pro Domme boots

I would really like to talk to someone about becoming a professional dom. I know of a few houses that my friends have worked at but dont know how to contact them myself. I am also curious if anyone is interested in teaching me or a work for trade situation. It feels rather lonesome getting into this work without a strong sense of community. I was really happy to find your website.

Janus is a resource for individuals looking for personal, non-commercial education and support for kink, and Pro Domme advice is really outside our charter. With that said, we have some resources you might find helpful. Again, we're not-for-profit, so our expertise in this area is not deep.

From what we know, your situation is not uncommon. While there are clusters of Pro Dommes in many cities, few have any working support groups to mentor new Dommes into the business.

We're also aware that many dungeons offer some sort of mentorship while "working for the house," but it seems that there are different contracts/arrangements with different houses, and we don't know if there is a norm. Just keep your eyes open.

Other than asking your friends for a contact at the dungeons they've worked, here are some resources:

DDI Magazine: You can find this in many adult book stores - it's listing of Dommes across the nation and the world. Also some good articles. Here's the online version:

Eros Guide: A longtime online resource for Dommes. It also includes some dungeons and is nationwide.

Other resource: Edukink, a SF-based organization has an online article with some links:

One Domme friend of ours tells us that getting into the business is often met with both welcoming and distance by other Dommes. Some are glad to have new blood in the business; some look at it as more competition.

It's not uncommon for Pro Dommes to be quite competitive and choose who they mentor or work with very carefully. One of our members has been told that most Dommes don't want to "train the competition." We've been told that that the number of women who want to go pro are many but few make it. Those new to the Domming don't realize that you need a business sense that doesn't relate in any way to the appearance of what a Domme does....i.e. the flake/failure rate is very, very high.

Again, we're not a great resource for those looking to "go Pro," but since we have some Pros as members, we can pass along what we've been told.

Good luck in your journey.
