Thoughts on marching with SOJ in the SF Pride Parade

I've marched with SoJ every year since I joined in 2003 except one with the Citadel and one with The Women of Color group. I march with SoJ because it represents something to me. It was there when I went looking to explore a part of me that had be closeted. I want that for others. So for me it's paying forward.

I have a great time every year. I get to hang out with other like minded people. It's where I saw my first chaps close up. The 15 Association was in front of us and I kept thinking that chaps really make your butt look great.

I know it's going to be a wait so I come prepared. Yes I was a Girl Scout. When I march I feel I'm showing others that they are not alone. The energy I get from the crowd is intoxicating.

Crowd interaction is great. The years that we have had whips and animals "playing" with the crowd are very memorable. Being at ground level also helps with the crowd reaction. They feel more involved. It doesn't take a lot of bells and whistles to get the crowd involved. A simple yell works well.

Well I will have new colors this year. I've been looking forward to the parade for months. I need to start breaking in my parade shoes now.
