
“Wow. Would you look at what I started?” About one in the afternoon those words came out of the mouth of Mistress Muffie who, as a Janus officer in the 1990s, managed to persuade a recalcitrant officer group that doing some floggings and spankings for charity at the Janus booth would be a good thing. The first year some floggings were simply done in front of the 10x10 space Janus rented. The following year, we had two spaces (one Outreach/Member space, one spanking space) and collected a couple of hundred dollars for charity. Over the years we kept adding spaces and collecting more money.
Last year 2010 Folsom Street Events decided to give us our own space off of Folsom Street; mostly because we were blocking traffic so badly folks could not move at 11th and Folsom, our longtime spot.
That’s history. Here’s the present:
On Sunday September 25th, 2011, a crew of about ten Janus folks arrived as early at 7am to start setting up the booth. It was raining. The enthusiastic and slightly damp crew setup 12 play stations, an Outreach booth, a Member booth, and a new area for long whip cracking.
