Get Your Kinky Picnic and Bonfire On, Saturday August 18th, 2012

It's summer and what better way to celebrate than a picnic and bonfire with your kinky friends. Come to one, or both. Here are the details:

PICNIC
Come relax in the park with your kinky family. We’ll be barbecuing at Speedway Meadow in Golden Gate Park. Come join us anytime from 2-5:30 while we get the grills going for some good eats.

A $5 donation is suggested. We also welcome any additional food donations (chips, potato salad, veggies, or anything special you’d like to grill). We'll have all the basics - bugers, dogs, more.

This is a “come as you are” event. It’s a great way to get to know your fellow kinksters in a very casual environment. You don't need to be a Janus member to attend, so bring your pervy pals.

BONFIRE
It's a good old fashioned bonfire at the beach. Same day, just down the road a bit at Ocean Beach. We'll start at around 6:30 and go to past 9.

We're not planning any naked, pagan dancing around the fire, because it IS summer in SF, but hopefully the weather will cooperate and not be totally fogged in

Ocean Beach is at the Western most part of SF. There are designated "fire rings" where bonfires are permitted on the beach between stairwells 15 and 20 (basically, across from the Beach Chalet Restaurant, toward the North part of the beach). See the map on the SoJ website.

You will be able to find us because we will have a BDSM flag on a pole.

We will be bringing wood to burn, marshmallows, non-alcoholic beverages and some snacks. Feel free to bring things to share. Alcohol is "officially" not permitted, but the Park Service person we talked to says they're less concerned with that than they are folks who bring glass onto the beach. If you should bring some adult beverages, make sure it's in metal or plastic. No glass. That's a hard limit here. :)

If you bring wood, it's got to be clean, untreated wood. No palettes (sharp objects/nails), no painted surfaces, no driftwood collecting at the beach.

This is a low pressure social event and not a play party, but it will be a place where you can chat with other folks who have some of the same interests in BDSM that you may have. You don't have to be a member to attend.

Directions to Speedway Meadow by bus:
Via BART/BUS: Take BART to the Montgomery Street Station and exit to Montgomery Street. At Montgomery and Market, take the #5 Fulton Muni Bus and get off at the 25th Avenue stop (about a 25 minute ride). Walk one block west on Fulton and cross the street at the 26th Avenue crosswalk into Golden Gate Park. Take the footpath at 26th Avenue into the park and follow it to the end. Turn left onto John F. Kennedy Drive. Speedway Meadow will be on your right, just before 25th Avenue. From the Sunset or Richmond districts, take the #29 Sunset Muni Bus. It goes directly to 25th and Fulton.

Ocean Beach by mass transit:
The N Judah goes all the way to the Beach. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the North part of the beach where bonfires are allowed. The 31 and 38 buses also go to Ocean Beach. See http://511.org/ for details. We are close to LaPlaya and Cabrillo stop.
