Lazy Labor Day 2009 Picnic Recap - Off Leash
A couple weeks ago, a gaggle of our kinky friends came together in Golden Gate Park for SOJ's Not Your Family’s Labor Day Picnic. Picture this - the weather was perfect, sunny and warm with a light breeze. We had two big picnic tables in the sun, and people set up blankets in the shade of the trees. Tightrope walking (seriously), frisbee, a whole lot of blanket loafing, one underutilized hula hoop, and no day in the park is complete without doggies.
Jen and Christian were grill masters and kept the food coming all afternoon long - burgers and veggie burgers, hot dogs, and sausage links. There were more chips than we could fathom, homemade brownie bites, and yummy watermelon.
At one moment, the park rangers came by to check on people's fires and adherence to leash laws. There was a mad dash to get the doggies on leash. Giggles as there were more offers for leashes than dog owners. Hmmm....
It was so much fun. And the reward for me was seeing the people that serve our community in so many ways be able to kick back and just enjoy the afternoon. That's why they call it social, folks.
See you at the next event, Card & Board Game Afternoon Social, Saturday, October 24, 2pm at Wicked Grounds.
