Orientation Guidelines | |
To make orientations more rewarding for
members and orientees, we are adopting the following guidelines: We will be starting all orientations on time, and locking the door 15 minutes after we start. We understand that parking at Orientations is often a problem or that people drive from some distances, but this is true for other aspects of people's lives. Please plan to arrive early enough to find parking. We are trying to avoid scheduling conflicts when major events are occurring at our orientation space, but this is not always possible. We are also looking at creative scheduling solutions to minimize the parking problem. The orientations are intended to welcome and inform potential new members rather than serve as social events for members. Please respect this and direct your attention to the orientees. In-jokes, "catching up," and other types of socializing are perfectly acceptable at other types of social events, but here it can be alienating to orientees. We often go out for a meal together after the orientations, which is a good place for socializing. Orientations are intended to be safe, consensual, and nonexploitative like all Janus activities. Active cruising or invitations to play with orientees during the meeting are not acceptable. Please feel free to give us constructive feedback or ideas. You can email us at Orientation@soj.org Many thanks, The Orientation Team
