Society of Janus exists as an organization to learn about kink, share information among ourselves, help build the kink community by providing a supportive atmosphere for ourselves, get to know and enjoy one another, and reach out to other interested, friendly groups and individuals. One way we further this goal is to make charitable donations to groups or organizations. Society of Janus is proud to have contributed to the following organizations in past years:
CARAS Research
Carter/Johnson Leather Library
Center for Sex & Culture
Community United Against Violence
Divine Deviance documentary
Leather Archives and Museum
Leather Heart Foundation
Leather Leadership Conference
National Coalition of Sexual Freedom (NCSF)
San Francisco Leather Alliance
San Francisco Sex Information (SFSI)
St. James Infirmary
The Alternative Sexualities Health Research Alliance (TASHRA)
The Exiles
The Ringold Project
Woodhull Freedom Foundation
Our biggest charitable fundraising event each year is the Spanking and Flogging Booth at the Folsom Street Fair. In addition to raising money for the causes above, renting the space for the booth itself supports the various charities the fair supports, including organizations in focusing on public health, human services or the arts, as well as Leather and fetish organizations.
Net proceeds for this year’s Folsom booth will be put into a Janus Community Fund, from which funds will be donated throughout the next year to community organizations like the ones above.
