Our Members

We have persons who are straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, questioning and more. Our members are female, male, transgender, intersexed, genderfluid, genderqueer and "other". They identify with the wide spectrum of BDSM roles and range from inexperienced newcomers just finding their way around kink to "veterans" with years of experience in the scene.

The Society of Janus also provides a chance to get involved with the greater SF Bay Area BDSM community.

Membership is open to all individuals age 18 and over who have a sincere interests in kink and BDSM. To join, potential members must attend an orientation (approximately an hour and a half) which gives information about the history of the organization, the rules and policies, and an overview of programs and services available.

We provide a safe and welcoming environment to people new to the scene or with years of experience, both young and, well, not-so-young.

Membership costs $50/year for individual and $70/year for couples. Membership fees are, by far, what supports SOJ which is a non-profit 501(c)(7) organization.
